ARABIAN NIGHTS
A rip-roaring comedy! ARABIAN NIGHTS tramples raucously through the far-flung fables of the Arabian Nights, thwarting the murderous intentions of a jilted king... Based on original folk tales, this production takes us through some of the most loved, like ‘Sinbad the sailor’, as well as some of the lesser known. Most of the characters are based on characters from the folk tales, but some are entirely new creations. They are all tied together by the story of Scheherazade, the heroine who manages to delay her execution each day by captivating the King’s attention with her storytelling. In this production five actors take on 50 parts, distinguishing between them through movement and voice. In past productions a live musician (sitar and guitar) has also formed a vital part of the performance, underscoring the action with original music and creating onstage sound effects. |
